Thankfully the Federal Government has helped us with step 1. By visiting www.annualcreditreport.com (government sponsored) you are able to view your reports from all 3 credit bureaus. Notice the word FREE isn’t anywhere in the domain name.

To spot errors on your report quickly, it’s a best practice to check one of your reports every 4 months (although some things don’t appear on all 3).
