I’m not super strong and I’m not overly quick. What I am blessed with is a knowledge of numbers and a voluptuous vocabulary. Years after many lost races, I’m finally getting my revenge.
I’m coming off a 17-game win streak. All I want is a quality game where I feel challenged. In the spirit of competition, I’m sharing with everyone 10 Tips To Win Words With Friends:
1. Don’t Cheat
There are a lot of websites that will help you cheat at Words With Friends. If you’re going to cheat, why are you playing?
2. Losers Play One Word
If you play one word at a time, you’re going to lose. Each time you place a letter down, make sure it forms another word at the same time.
3. Learn Two Letter Words
This will make Tip #2 easier. Although it may not seem like a word, remember we’re using the officially Scrabble dictionary. Here are some helpful two letter words:
AA, AB, AD, AE, AG, AH, AI, AL, AM, AN, AR, AS, AT, AW, AX, AY
These are just the A’s! Don’t be afraid to try any of the above.
4. ‘S’ Looks Like a Tail
Don’t waste the letter ‘S’ in the middle of a word. It should only be used to pluralize one word and create another word.
5. Sometimes Less is More
Just because you’re using a lot of letters, doesn’t mean it’s your best option.
6. Tally Wacker
To piggyback off of Tip #5, tally your score before you submit your play. Make sure you’re choosing the highest possible score.
7. High Times
Be aware what letter of yours has the highest point value and match that up to the available boxes with the highest value (Triple Letter/Triple Word/etc.)
8. Go Both Ways
Reemphasizing #2 and #3; playing one horizontal word should create multiple vertically.
9. Be Quick
Playing every few days isn’t fun – and the longer you take, the more skeptical I am about your cheating ways.
10. Play Defense
The most important rule. The best offense is a good defense. What good is your 50 pt play if it sets up a 60 pt play for your opponent? Be careful while you’re near TW or DW.
