What genre of music do you listen to?
Do you like rap?
Country?
Rock?
Pop?
I would bet that most of you said “yes” to a few of the above categories. Well whatever you chose, you’re full of it. Maybe you used to like this kind of music, but not anymore. You see…rap is no longer rap. Country is no longer country. Pop is no longer pop.
It’s all techno.
Years ago, everyone used to make fun of techno. But now? Now it’s everything. Techno is everywhere. With the exception of maybe Taylor Swift (acoustically challenged) or Mumford & Sons (not American), every “artist” produces some kind of electronic music. It’s difficult to find someone who doesn’t use (or need) the assistance of computers.
A Musical Shift
Why has there been a shift in music in recent years?
It’s because we want quality. We no longer care for the crackle in human vocals. We no longer fancy the flaw-la-las.
We want rhythm. We want beat. We want perfection.
Where do we turn for perfection? Techno-logy. Computers are now the musical experts.
A Political Shift
200 words later I’m going to tell you that this post has nothing to do with music (whoops).
Much like the musical shift into techno, there is a similar political shift into technocracy.
What is Technocracy?
According to Wiki:
Technocracy is a hypothetical form of government in which science would be in control of all decision-making. Scientists, engineers and technologists who have knowledge, expertise or skills would compose the governing body, instead of politicians (who are good at what?).
People are beginning to realize how idiotic inefficient politicians are. Why are we paying these people to run our counties and countries when they can’t even perform the simple task of balancing a budget?
Let’s bring in the experts; bring in the technocrats.
I’m not sure technocracy will always be the solution; but with the current fiscal calamity – why not pull in some financial guru to dig us out of this debt?
Greece is giving it a go with Lucas Papademos (economist).
Italy – as well – with Mario Monti (former EU Commissioner).
Should the United States follow suit –
– or march to the beat of a different drum?
