I said I wasn’t going to do it, but here I am. I couldn’t resist.
The election season will conclude tomorrow meaning all of the economic thoughts circulating my head will soon become irrelevant. I can’t let that happen.
Keep Calm and Gary On
When I tell my friends that I voted for Gary Johnson, I get one of two responses:
I wish I was kidding. Most Americans either -think it’s funny I’m voting for Gary Johnson- or -they don’t know who Gary Johnson is. With the media only pushing 2 parties, it’s difficult for anyone to discover a different ideology.
But there is one.
Fiscally Conservative, Socially Liberal
I’m certain EVERYONE has heard this saying. Whoever makes the comment generally agrees with the Republican view of responsible spending but disagrees with the Republican views on abortion and/or gay marriage.
This “Fiscally Conservative, Socially Tolerant” person is forced to decide which is more important: fiscal issues or social issues?
If they think the economy is more important, they vote Republican. If they think human rights are more important, they vote Democrat.
What they don’t understand is that they don’t have to decide between the two. There is a THIRD option.
The Libertarian Party
In short, The Libertarian Party believes in MAXIMUM FREEDOM & MINIMUM GOVERNMENT.
Let’s a play a game…
Think of ONE THING that the government is involved in that isn’t screwed up? (I’ll give you a list of choices)
- Social Security
Our education system is crap. Social Security is going bankrupt. And I don’t think I need to explain what the government’s involvement led to in the mortgage industry (housing bubble).
So for anyone to think that our glorious government is going to fix ANYTHING is laughable. The government is full of wonderful ideas (most of which I agree with) but the execution is pitiful and only leads to inefficiencies.
In Such A Close Race, Aren’t You Wasting Your Vote?
Newsflash: There’s a 99.9% chance your vote doesn’t matter. If you live in 1 of 40 counties in Ohio or Virginia, maybe that percentage drops to 99.8%.
Sorry to burst your bubble, Kevin Costner.
I’m hoping that eventually Americans will recognize a 3rd (or more) party. It’s that 3rd party that truly inspires change.
If you consider yourself to be Fiscally Conservative and Socially Tolerant, I encourage you to check out the Libertarian Party.
